Most of this came from just being around audio constantly and putting the time in. Live sound taught me how to react fast, trust my ears, and make things work under pressure. Every room is different. Every setup is different. Sometimes you walk into a perfect situation, sometimes you don’t. Either way, the job still has to get done right. The studio became the place where I could really take that further. Recording, production, mixing — all of it comes down to understanding the song instead of forcing a sound onto it. Some records need energy. Some need space. Some need to feel raw and untouched. I’m big on keeping that balance between clean and natural without making everything feel overly processed. What started in live audio shaped the entire approach behind the studio. Learning how systems react in different spaces, how balance changes from room to room, and how important clarity and impact are in real-world environments. That same mindset carries into every recording, mix, and production session.
